How is NDMA formed from the APl， valsartan， and goundetected? Before going into the investigation results， anunderstanding of the chemistry of NMDA would be useful. NDMA bears the chemical structure as depicted in the following：
In the presence of amines with nitro sating agents，nitrosamines will be formed. This reaction is accelerated in an acidic pH environment or under high temperature. Asfor the amines， it is also known that the secondary aminesare the most reactive compounds towards the nitro sating agents.
But it does not mean that nitrosamines can not beformed in the presence of tertiary or quaternary amines，amides， carbamates or derivatives of urea. As long as theconditions are right and nitro sating agents are presentnt rosa mies wil be formed. Nitrosating agents such as nitric acid, nitrous acid and their respective salts, nitrates, nitrites and other nitrogen oxides can act as nitroso group donors.
